Muse Challenge Giveaway
- On the first 5 days of each month, two creative writing prompts will be posted to:
- Facebook (Proof Rock Developmental Editing),
- LinkedIn (Amanda Hart Miller)
- amandahartmiller.com (subscribe to receive the posts via email)
- Email your response to amandahartmiller@gmail.com on any or all of the first five days of each month to be added to a monthly drawing to win $30 toward developmental editing or Fall offerings. You will be entered into the monthly drawing once for every day you respond, up to 5 times per month.
- Responses can be very rough and do not need to have a beginning, middle, or end. Try for at least 250 words. Your response should be fiction, memoir, or poetry. I reserve the right to delete and disqualify any responses that contain inappropriate content or do not appear to be in the spirit of creative writing. Response questions about services do not count toward the drawing.
- The drawing on the 6th of each month is random, not based on writing quality.
Fall Offerings on Zoom
- These offerings cap out at 10 people to provide an interactive, intimate, safe group.
- All sessions are hands-on, including discussion and guided practice. In this small learning community, we discuss a specific technique or topic through multiple angles and complete short, related writing challenges to jumpstart your writing. The atmosphere is supportive, fun, and alive with creativity.

Writing to be Read: Muse & Craft
Do you have stories to tell? This introductory session helps you take the first step from writing to writing to be read. You’ll have a chance to talk about your writing goals and experiences. Then we’ll practice romancing the Muse and discuss first steps toward crafting the Muse’s gifts into something that engages readers who don’t know or already love us. ($10)

Characters Who Desire
Although plot is certainly important, readers engage with active, complex characters who drive the plot forward. ($30)

Dialogue: Characters Who Talk Back
Dialogue should sound authentic, show characterization, and move the plot forward. ($30)
–Monday Oct. 30 6:30-8 pm
Avoiding Info Dumps
As writers, we love to convey big chunks of information so readers will understand everything they need to know as the story progresses. As readers, we don’t love this as much. In this session, we’ll park the dumptrucks and embed details into the narration. ($30)
